Visit Historic Mattapoisett 

Mattapoisett, MA, is steeped in history. You’ll experience the historic charm throughout this little town, from its friendly residents to its 17th and 18th century architecture. If you’re a history buff, you won’t want to miss Mattapoisett. When you’re in the area, be sure to check out these attractions. 

  • Stop by Ned’s Point Lighthouse for a breathtaking view of the historic structure built in 1838. Tour the grounds, learn about the local and regional history of lighthouses and their relationship with the maritime industry through the years.  Tours inside the lighthouse are available but must be arranged by appointment in advance. 
  • Visit Mattapoisett Library for the books and periodicals, the computer and media center, but most of all, visit for the community fellowship. This quaint, comfortable library has been a community staple for many years. From its large collection of books and reference material to its classes and workshops, Mattapoisett Library is a great community resource. 
  • Check out the historic Town Wharf General Store.  The structure, built in 1798, has been used as a sail loft, a dry goods store, a dentist's office, among other things.  But in recent years, the historic site has been home to the general store. Town Wharf is a great place to stop in for a cup of coffee and check out handmade gifts, pantry items, and local merchandise.
